    where did the dollar go???

ok heres one...I heard it quite a while ago...lemme write it down and lets see how many of can solve it..if u have heard it before, well read it again....

(the theme is same..i just changed the storyline)

    here it is........

3 friends were on a road trip...they drove all day, and finally it was 9 pm...they checked into a motel....they decided to share 1 room, since they were a little short on cash...the motel employee told them that the price for the room would be $30 dollars for one night...they thouhgt it was a pretty good deal...thus, each of the 3 friends paid $10 and went to their room....

Out in the lobby, the motel employee somehow found out that the price for that room was actually $25, not $30!!!....he felt bad that he overcharged the guests (wise guy!!...hehe)...so he goes to their room to return to the difference of $5 ($30 charged, minus the $25 actual)....the 3 friends were very happy....but they thought how will they be dividing $5 among them?? wouldnt make any sense..so they gave $2 to the employee and divided the rest $3 among themsleves (i.e, each of them got $1 back)....

OK...hope u guys are getting me till here....nows the best part...think very very carefully....

If each of the roommates got $1 back, they would be only paying $9 per head, right? So they paid $27 ($9 X 3)...add $2 that they gave to the employee...the total comes to $29...thats what they paid for the room...

but the fact is that, they initially paid $30 (remember $10 each??) for the room!!!!!

    WHERE IS $1???

A trick played by eliminatin' the decimal figures

In this mathematics a trick was played by eliminatin' the decimal figure/s.

Simply reversin' the solution..... answer 'll be clear

Only two dollars was given to the motel employee, so the tips contribution of each friend comes about $ 2/3 = $ 0.667 (its a mathematical expression....in real it'll be just 66 cent)

    Actually each friend has contributed $ 0.667 for tips, so their return was $ 10 - 0.667 = $ 9.333 each ( other-way-around; 25/3 = 8.333 + 1 = 9.333).

    so final solution 'll be $ 9.333 x 3 = 28 + 2 ( tips) = $ 30

Re: $1 will be awarded to tantrick bro...ehehe

Tan Trick bro, seems like you are into a lot of mathematics...so I would request the busy_bee to award you that $1. Congrats bro.

I agree with your logic. The solution is noticable.
