Ernakulam is a very important district in Kerala. This can be seen as it is home to a number of very important sites and industries that bring in a lot of importance and income to the economy of Kerala as well as to the country. Most of the Ernakulam district is the city of Cochin. Ernakulam is home to the Cochin Stock Exchange (the only one of its kind in Kerala), the Cochin Shipyard (the largest ship building yard in India, providing its services to both private merchants and the navy) and the Headquarters of the Southern Naval Command (the primary training centre for the Indian Navy). The Chinese Fishing Nets are also a major tourist attraction as it shows the impressions left by the Chinese seafarers as well in the ancient times. The geographical scenery is another major tourist attractions with beaches, waterfalls, lakes and rivers, giving any tourist ample activities to go about during their visit in Ernakulam.
